On offer is a lovely late 1955 SJ in remarkably good condition. These old SJs are wonderful instruments, basically an upscale J-45 with parallelogram neck and crown headstock inlays. 50s era Gibsons sound wonderful and this is no exception. There are a few sratches, dings and some lacquer checking that would be expected on a 70 year old guitar. There is a small cleated crack at the top of the soundhole through the rosette and another very small, now invisible, crack on the back. Otherwise, the top, back and sides are crack free. Master luthier Hideo Kamimoto did the repair and set up the guitar with a new saddle. While the saddle is on the low side, the guitar plays very well, with no fretout or buzzing. Action is shown in the photos. Neck at the nut is 1.68″ wide x .95″. Complete with well worn but perfectly serviceable original hard case. All latches and hinges work.
